What Be Your Nerd Type?

This one is pretty fun. I found it at World History Blog which totally gives away the type of nerd that I am doesn't it?

What Be Your Nerd Type?

I be a Literature Nerd. When I tried to publish the table of results and stuff it totally hosed my page and I don't be enough of a computer nerd to fix it.

So, like uh, What be YOUR nerd type?

Huh. It said I'm a music nerd. Closely followed by literature nerd and science/math nerd. That's interesting, the musician gets the literature nerd award, and the computer programmer gets the music nerd award? Somehow I think this test needs some adjustments :-).

it might be that something you do for a living doesn't bring out true nerdieness effectively anymore. my music nerd score was pretty close to the lit score, but if they were asking me what i would do to relax or when i really want to enjoy myself, well, the hot cocoa and a room full of books sounds like heaven. what the test wouldn't judge is how many hours of music it takes before i can allow myself to curl up with the book.

Science/Math Nerd

"(Absolute Insane Laughter as you pour toxic chemicals into a foaming tub of death!) Well, maybe you aren't this extreme, but you're in league with the crazy scientists/mathmeticians of today. Very few people have the talent of math and science is something takes a lot of brains as well. Thank whosever God you worship, or don't worship, so thank no deity whatsoever in your case, for you people! Most of us would have died off without your help."

That's the wording of my results.

Social Nerd ..not quite a hippie...?
Did the description seem kinda apologetic and somewhat condecending ...? As if we socials were not quite nerdy enough ...or is it the more obvious, I'm too effin' old ....?
Hey kid, take your anime and ....

But what the hey, that was fun ...

Social nerd, but I understood that I was some sort of something way before the term came out. Piano lessons, crystal radios, fishing, and an erection that started about the age of 10 and didn't stop until 19. Call your Doctor?? Call your girlfriend!

Back then it was just another of the strangeness of life, whatever the hell that really was. Life is still strange to me. If I ever figure it out, I'll post it over at the BBB. But I wouldn't hold my breath.

What I really wanted was to be listed as a muck shovelling geek type of nerd. Some of my clearest thoughts have come during the most mundane type of tasks. At least I think so.

a lot of times in an AA meeting people will wax all poetic about their 'meditation' and 'ways of prayer' and i tell them that i do my best and calmest thinking when i'm shoveling poop out of the barn. i'm qualified for that position, i'm good at it. we all find our different paths to nirvana don't we?

couldn't take the test - Websense thinks it's a game an filters it out. I'd have to guess it woul dshow me as a music nerd, with literature and science/math close 2nds & 3rds.

Interesting... I come out as math/science nerd (duh....), but next highest were social nerd and then literature nerd. Musician was a big zippo. That's false. It didn't pose the right questions to bring out what musicianship I have. (Not at all huge, but not nothing, either.)

There's an old saying (koan?) that sort of applies here:

"What did you do before enlightenment?"

"Chop wood & carry water."

"What did you do after enlightenment?"

"Chop wood & carry water."

i had that one related as a parable. a young man came to a zen monastary and was taken in. he asked the master what he would do while seeking his enlightenment. the master said "chop wood, fetch water." years passed and the young man worked and studied hard. he felt he was beginnning to make true progress and asked the master what he would do after enlightenment.

the master said "happily chop wood, fetch water."
