Great Egret. These guys are elegant hunters. Fish, frogs, but also mice, lizards and other small game. They figure if it's smaller, slower, stupider than them, it's on the menu.
Fuck the stupid stuff Hillary just said. This is more interesting. I'm hosting several of my collegues from the college for a potluck get together to celebrate the end of the school term. I'm bringing the ice cream.

I wish I could put a photo into the comments. Here's to lovely back yards! No egrets in mine, but lots of smaller birds in the oaks and occasionally the sound of red tails hunting in the pasture nearby. And squirrels to torment Lani, and foxes and deer unseen prowling the woods beyond my fence.
I am no longer interested in resisting anything. I will not waste my energy being against anything - be it war or republicans or Hillary. I am only interested in focusing with appreciation on what is lovely in my life and trust that by doing that, what is lovely in my life will expand. That will get me through today and tomorrow I get to choose again.

As for the harpy, I did not post anything about her comment on my blog either. She did not say anything that we all haven't been thinking when asking ourselves, "why is she still in the race?".
In the meantime it is Memorial Day weekend, when all the old lies rise to mingle among us and wink and nod knowingly as they sip their champagne and nibble their canapes, the lies of valor and honor and glory, the lies of defending freedom and service to the nation. Dulce et Decorum Est. But we do so love our lies here in the United States of Delusion...
I have had a bunny in the yard lately... and of course my kitty.
I saw a heron on my way to the beach yesterday though. It was wonderful.
Beautiful shot. I wish my camera were fast enough to get the herons and egrets that I sometimes see in the park.

I have a chipmunk family in my backyard, in addition to my birds. Thanks for the kind words about the grackles. Sounds like I gave them a bum rap.
No Egrets visible from my window. Lots of gulls, crows, jays,squirrels, spiders and green, green leaves. Saw a coyote in a Phoenix cul-de-sac last week.
