Taken From My Porch Five Minutes Ago

Great. Blue. Heron.

The wingspan on this guy has got to be six feet, easy. Stuff like this is what makes it easy for me to stay in my "fuck politics" mindset.

I'm this close to joining you in your "fuck politics" mindset.

Since my traffic's permanently plunged into triple digits, I'm already in that "fuck politics" mindset, even though my liberal protagonist gets suckered into a political/religious discussion in the chapter og my nove on which I'm working now.

We all need a pallette cleanser once in a while. Aravosis has his orchids, Amato has his music videos and Stevie has his herons and truffles. With me, you never know what you'll get. To each his own.

I used to see these beautiful creatures on canoe trips in Wisconsin. They're my faves...

'till tuesday then.

probably say fuck it all again though. i'm tired of it, the more things i see that need changing, the less hope i have that anything will be done.

did you hear what reverend wright said this time?

fuck. me. tender.

all this shit going down and that's what the motherfuckers spend their time on.

we truly do get exactly the government we deserve.

Had a Great Blue on my pond yesterday. First one this year but then we've still got patches of snow up here in the NW. Beautiful birds. We get the impression that they just eat frogs and fish but you should see them out in the fields mousing.

Ditto on the "fuck politics" mindset. I'm burning out on this ratings driven pre election MSM BS. Is anybody going to talk about the real issues?

Birdie!

Word verification is vevfinos, which are a red-plumed and spicy-tasting bird indigenous to the western Italian coast.

I see herons in the park where I walk with Lani. I have never been able to get a shot of one with my cheap ass camera.

When I lived on Horseshoe Lake in Scott it was not unusual to get up in the morning and see wood ducks, lesser greens and great blues sharing a cypress tree on the lakebank out the kitchen window. Always kinda strange to see ducks in a tree. Lots of owls, as well, but they hung out in different trees.

MB,

I am tired as well of politics: the triumph of show over substance.

Beautiful picture -- nature renews.

JP, I think Google may be fucking with PageRank again, because I've gone from a pretty consistent 500/day (with the occasional boost from C&L and the wingnut aggregators who link to me fairly frequently) to a pretty consistent 300 or less.

Either that or everyone's sick of politics.

For me it's a growing sense of certainty that the dice are loaded and the game is fixed, and the media and corporatocracy are going to get the Hillary/McCain matchup that they've been jonesing for since 2004. And of coure then they will flog the old Clinton scandals so that McCain wins.

But wev....what does it really matter? Hillary these days looks as bad as McCain does.

These days not even the words "Supreme Court" can make me vote for this hypocritical lying sack of shit who is going to set us back so far that no woman other than maybe Ann Coulter is ever going to get near the presidency ever again in our lifetime. Because Hillary is out for Hillary and nobody else.

I can't vote for her. I just can't. And yet that's the choice I'm going to be given. Meanwhile, I'm running for county Democratic committee and the insurgent group I'm running with can't even get it together to send me the list of Democratic voters in my district.

I'm just so discouraged....

I just want to work on my house and marvel at my azaleas.

i haven't looked at my numbers in over a year. fuck that. that's not why i blog. sometimes i don't even know why i blog. that's what accounts for my absences sometimes, other times it's because i'm fucking lazy.

i didn't start this to be noticed, respected or anything else. i started blogging to shout into the gale like lear on the moor.

been doing that.

They used to perch on the end of our dock when I lived in northern Michigan. How graceful.

That's one more thing I like about living in south Florida; the birding is fantastic year-round.
