i bookmarked it. i liked your post.
Congratulations. Your experience is hardly unique these days. I was traveling in southern Arizona a few years ago and it felt like a war zone. I can only imagine that it hasn't gotten any better.
Congratulations, MB. Fine post, and something that we on the East Coast haven't experienced firsthand -- Little Fallujah.
Comrade Rutherford in Vermont disagrees. This is also happening in our neck of the woods, Lisa.
You couldn't be in a better place with your gift of word and great back gound (because you care) in how it all works. These to me are some wonderful people who carried on during a bad time and made it out.

Congratulations on the new gig, and on a hair-raising post.
I hope they pay well over there.
Hey MB, I read this a little late because we were up in the tropical north snorkeling on the Great Barrier Reef and checking out the rainforest. Mrs. Bukko likes to whinge because the authorities here have food-sniffing beagels at the airports to make sure you're not bringing an apple or banana from one state (where it might have local pests) to another. And I curse at the "booze buses" they set up on major roads on weekend nights to crack down on typical Aussie drunkenness. BUT IT'S NOTHING COMPARED TO THIS FASCISM!
Thanks again for affirming why I buggered off, mate. I'm getting affirmations on that just about every day I read the news from the U.S.
