A Disturbance In The Force

has occured. I was talking about my new tempering machine with the manufacturer's rep and it appears that I need a new part called a drive gear motor. I've ordered it, but they don't have them in stock and they close for Christmas on the 22nd. My son has dispatched the tiny pound and a half machine from Arizona on overnight. I will then go into round the clock production until it's done. I'm going to try and limp through another eight or so dozen today (2 doz done so far, but it's slow and tedious). We'll see what transpires. I will get them shipped as soon as I can.

Given your physical limitations, I'm concerned that you're doing too much to make the XMAS deadline (how ARE you doing, btw?) Speaking only for myself, I can totally wait until after Christmas... I have a January bday coming up and I'm not opposed to treating myself. :)

I can totally live with a pushed back deadline, but that would put the ones i've already made out of freshness with each other. if i finish off the calvados truffles today that will make six dozen for the day, and then pull an allnighter when the smaller machine gets here, it will be long but i won't be having to spend the entire time on my feet. there's just a lot of waiting between batches. doing a dozen at a time instead of four. shame to have it go down like this but we'll see what we can manage. i'm not going to hurt myself. i promise.

i am taking good care. rest assured. i am not going to endanger my health or comfort beyond normal human limits. i have two women (mom and april) who are watching me like a hawk for signs of failing. they both have full authority to blow the whistle and call time. i've seem to have fallen into a fairly decent mix between machine and hand tempering. it might go for another four dozen. then that's it for the day.

I am not in a hurry to get mine before Xmas! I may well arrive at my parents' place after Christmas, and in any case, with mine there is no rush.

I will have ample opportunity to share truffles as planned whenever they arrive. Thanks, MB. Take care and have fun.
